HPV after sex with married partner

Resolved question:

Hi doctor, I am married and my marriage was about 6 months ago. Recently, I use to have abnormal pap smear. I am planning to get it medically tested, after 2 weeks. Now, what can be the reason of this? Is this due to any HPV infection? Should I have unprotected sex with my marriage partner? Or is it required to have protected sex? Are condoms effective in preventing sexually transmitted diseases? Can HPV transmit if I wear a condom? Please help.

Thanks for your concern in preventing sexually transmitted infections, especially HPV. For sexually active people, condoms can lower the risk of sexually transmitted infections if they are used properly, from the start to finish of the act. But care should be taken that a broken condom will not offer any protection. Condoms also provide safety from getting infected with HIV and related diseases. They also help in preventing genital warts caused by HPV and cervical cancer. But areas which are not covered with condom are not protected. Exchange of body fluids while engaged in sexual act can cause spreading of HPVs and similar infections. Take care.
