Your four year old girl seems to be having sore throat or in medical
terms, pharyngitis. The most common cause is usually viral. strep
pharyngitis is common in children between ages two to five. Only good
clinical examination can help differentiate between the causative
agents. Presence of petechial spots over the palate or tender lymph
nodes in the neck would point to a diagnosis of strep pharyngitis.
