Irregular bowel movements and hungry most of the time.

Resolved question:
I am seeming to have an issue regarding bowel movements. It seems they are not regular even if I eat a large meal. I seem to feel like there is one but then it goes away. Also I am hungry most of the time and shortly after eating. When I think I should have one I have to sort of make it happen. That seems to be the only issue no other symptoms.

Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I am really sorry to hear about your child's problems. I can understand your concerns.
Based on your short description, a few diagnostic possibilities appear likely, but, I would like you to answer a few queries before I confirm the diagnosis for your son:
1. What is the nature of abdominal pain? Location - upper/middle/lower abdomen? Characteristics of pain? Severity? Any day-night variation of pain? Is pain associated with any change in bowel habits? Any blood in stools? Any ulcers near the anal region? Does the pain have any relation to food ingestion/ defecation? Does the pain alleviate with anything?
2. What is the color of vomitus - bilious (greenish) or yellow (containing ingested food only)? Odor? Frequency? Association with abdominal pain or eating or passing stools? How long after feeding does vomiting occur? Volume of vomitus? Any other aggravating or relieving factors?
3. Does he have night sweats or fever? You mentioned that he lost 5 kgs in a month. What was his previous and what is his current weight?
4. How is his appetite? How is his general well-being?
5. Why did you not allow the use of rectal contrast during the CT scan? It could have given us a lot more information regarding your child's diagnosis.
We are talking about a group of really serious diseases and we need to make sure that we quickly move forward with further investigations, confirmation of diagnosis and initiation of therapy.

Dear parent,
Thank you for providing the above information. Based on the information provided, it is likely that your child has an inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease). Though it is impossible to confirm based on the information provided by you, I would strongly advise you to take your son to a pediatric gastroenterologist and urgently get an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy as well as colonoscopy done to confirm the findings.
The other possibility is a lymphoma. Presence of circumferential mural thickening and significant weight loss can be seen in intestinal lymphoma. But, absence of lymph node swellings and fever is a pint against it.
Kindly visit a pediatric gastroenterologist and get the necessary evaluation done.
Regards.

Dear parent,
It is too early to talk about these things. Though I perfectly understand your anxiety and apprehensions, it would be grossly inappropriate to discuss treatment or prognosis without knowing the definitive diagnosis.
So my sincere advice is to proceed step by step. Let us get the diagnosis confirmed first. Once that is done, do get in touch with me and I would be happy to answer any of your queries

Wishing you the Almighty 's blessings
Hoping to hear from you soon
