I'm very much thankful to you for your quick reply. My mother-in-law has a history of asthma, for which she used to take medications all the time please. We didn’t expect this disease in as we don't have it. Moreover, none of my husband's siblings were affected with this disease. Did our daughter getting this disease because of her grandmother? Is there any cure for this disease?

Hello. Thanks for updating us with your query. I can understand your agony. But I want to make it clear that Asthma is not a communicable disease. It means asthma doesn't transfer from one individual to another with a physical contact or sharing a towel. It is due to the genetic make up of the individual and depends on the DNA structure and sequence. As I have already mentioned the development of this disease is also dependent on the environmental factors too. Any trigger like pollen,dust ,animal dander all can stimulate the disease process and increase the symptoms if the offending agent is not removed. The symptoms that are produced, like wheezing, shortness of breath etc are all because of the immunological response of the body to the offending foreign substance. The body responds by producing excess number of inflammatory substances which results in secretions that block the airways, The treatment part mainly depends on the removal of the offending or aggravating substance from the individuals environment. Medications such as Selective beta agonists, anticholinergics etc would help. Corticosteroids are of much help in acute cases or in exacerbated conditions. As this is a recurrent condition, there is no permanent cure as of now. Avoiding the precipitating factors really help in most of the cases. Hope this helps.
