Laxative and pain on passing stools in child

Resolved question:
My 2 year old was constipated over Christmas so our doctor told us to give retro lax for 5 days which we did and she pooped. However, now she is constantly doing up to 10 times a day easily from a stain to a couple table spoons and jumps up wiggling saying ouch my bum and cries while doing it. Called the children hospital hotline where they said it was basically her mind telling her to poop and her bowel not doing it and it was part of the stage before potty training and told us not to mention the potty for a while. Also not to worry unless she is vomiting. What do you think?

Hello, thankyou for approaching DoctorSpring, Potty training is a sensitive issue with children. From the symptoms you have mentioned above, I would say stop the laxative. Your daughter is having an urge to defecate and the increased frequency has probably made her anal region sore. Kindly examine her anal region for any redness? But do this very reassuringly as it will already be upsetting her.
Let me know if there is redness so I can advice you accordingly.
You can reply as a follow up question.
Thankyou
