Laxity in ANTERIOR DRAWER TEST after ACL RECONSTRUCTION SURGERY.

Resolved question:
Hi,
I recently had acl reconstruction surgery (6 weeks) using BPTB graft and I think there is a little laxity in anterior drawer test (between 3 mm to 6mm) though I didn't find any significant displacement in lachman test.
Is it normal? How much laxity is OK? Is it ok to go ahead an try to achieve full flexion given that tibia tends to displace at maximum flexion? Do prone hangs affect acl

Hello.
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com.

I have read your query with diligence.
The Lachman test is more sensitive in detecting ACL injuries.
An excursion of more then 3 mm is considered abnormal.
If your Lachman is normal, then you should go ahead under supervision of your doctor.
Prone hangs are safe after ACL reconstruction and good for rehabilitation after your surgery.

I hope this was helpful to you. Feel free to discuss further.
Thank you.

Hello Dr. tiwari,
The end of displacement (anterior drawer) is sharp so can I assume that there is laxity and not a tear?
Just from experience, is it probable that the laxity will increase with time?
As of now, I don't feel any unstability whatsoever while walking, but if the need be, is a revision reconstruction a viable option?

Hello. Thank you for posting the follow up.
It does not looks to be a tear ,it may be a laxity. In this condition you may also do quadriceps exercises.this will help you.
Feel free to discuss further,
Regards
