Light headed, dizzy after taking WINE with LUVOMOX, WARFARIN.

Resolved question:
My fiance is feeling sick after being on blood thinners for several days and having wine this evening. Last week he was diagnosed with a DVT and has been on Luvomox and Warfarin. He appeared very intoxicated tonight after a small amount of wine and was light headed, dizzy and cold. His BP was 110/70 and his heart rate was 67. His body temp was 96.

Hello,
Thanks for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I understand your concern. Mild alcohol consumption should not interfere with warfarin action. Thanks for providing his vital parameters which are in the normal limit. Is he having symptoms like confusion, difficulty in respiration, severe vomiting/fits/seizures/loss of consciousness or any other severe symptoms? If that is the case, he needs to be admitted to the emergency department to monitor his electrolytes and other parameters. Otherwise, he should be fine with adequate rehydration and good rest. Please avoid alcohol consumption /or keep to minimal in future if on warfarin as it may alter warfarin action and may cause problems.
Hope it helps
Regards
