Lymphocoele after electrosurgery to remove pearly penile papules

Resolved question:
About two and a half months ago I went to the dermatologist to have pearly penile papules removed via electrosurgery. It was done as a test on a patch underneath the corona on the foreskin by the frenulum. She injected lidocane into the area and scraped it off. I was aware that there would be a scar, so I let it be for a week or so, and then masturbated a couple times in the days following. One morning I woke up to what answers on google describe as a "lymphocele", a seemingly contained section of lymph right by the area. I had had this once before due to excessive masturbation, and assumed this was the cause, and massaged it and left my penis alone for another week or so. It would mostly subside during the day, but when I woke up in the morning it would be visible, although less so. It has lessened, now at the point where there is an almost constantly feel-able line that never swells, connected to a patch that swells up usually only in the morning, and then almost entirely disappears, only to reappear next morning. Masturbation does not seem to affect it largely (I try to be very gentle), but prolonged erections (guessing especially throughout the night), seem to aggravate it. I assume now that the lymph is a response to the scar healing (as the scar is still quite red), and should disappear, but how can I help it to do so?

Hello,

Thank you for asking your query at DoctorSpring.

It is most likely contained lymph (as you have correctly pointed out) and some inflammatory fluid at the scar site and should get resolved by itself. However, if gets infected then it will have to be drained. You should refrain from masturbating at this point of time atleast for a week more. Avoid penetrative sex also.

Daily wash the area with water; no soap to be applied. The best approach would be self resolution and you should try for that. If the swelling seems increasing in size and/or there is pain, discharge or redness you should consult your Doctor.

Hope this helps

Thanks for your response, Dr. There has never been any pain, and there is no longer redness (only within the actual borders of the scar), which I know is normal. I had been trying to massage it daily but I think that constantly messing with it has probably just made it worse, so I am leaving it entirely alone now. Is this a better course of action? Also, as it is going down during the day, I believe that means there is movement. Because of this, is it unlikely that there will be extra scarring due to lymph inflammation? Also, for the portion that never swells but is always pretty much there, is it possible that this is some kind of lymph clot, and will my body resolve it? I am only 19, so I know my body should be better about things like this than if I was older.

Hello,

You are exactly spot on. No activity is the best treatment for yourself.
Do not worry about this. A rule of thumb is that any external activity like massage, rolling , stretching etc is NOT going to help. Inface these activities might worsen it. Just give rest. Body will reabsorb the fluid. About scarring/ clot it is difficult to say. Even if it there , it is safe to observe for some time.

Take care.
