Making people work at home

Resolved question:

I am the COO of a small company with just 75 workers in staff. This question is not about any medical problem I am facing, but about a policy for those who can work from home, if they have some mild contagious disease. Diseases like cough and cold, not only degrades performance of workers, but also make others too feel sick. What if I can arrange a work-from-home option for those who have ailments as I told before? Will it help preventing the disease from spreading to others in the office? I have heard that these diseases actually become contagious and spread before it start showing symptoms. So, will my idea work?

Hello. Thank you for your query.

You are absolutely right if the disease you mentioned is contagious like viral infection. A common cold is caused by a bunch of viruses which change their genetic material so frequently. So it has become impossible to discover a vaccine for this. It would be an ideal decision for you to arrange work from home if you suspect that your employees are suffering from any of the contagious diseases and for sure it will prevent others from contracting the disease.

Hope this helps.
