Most common method for gonorrhea testing

Resolved question:

Hi, I have heard that gonorrhea is very easily diagnosed and treated, but if left untreated, it can be life threatening to both men and women. Can you tell me about the most common gonorrhea testing method?

Hi,

Thanks for contacting us.

Gonorrhea is undoubtedly a very dangerous ailment if it is not treated on time. Simple urine test is the most common way for testing gonorrhea. It provides most accurate and discreet results available within 2-3 business days. The STD testing for gonorrhea works by detecting the bacteria that causes the STD-Neisseria gonorrhea. Gonorrhea testing using urine is painless, yet highly effective in detecting genital gonorrhea.  As this test is urine based, the sample can be collected in lab or privacy of your own home. On average, the incubation period for gonorrhea is between a few days to a few weeks.

Patients should withhold urination for at least an hour before collecting their specimen for gonorrhea testing. The specimen should also be ‘first catch’ urine- around 20-30 ml- from the initial stream. Larger volumes of urine can cause dilution of sample and cause confusion during gonorrhea testing.

So if you think you have gonorrhea, rush to doctor to take STD testing as early as possible.
