My 7 yr old son is running fever and coughing since three days.

Hello,

From the symptoms he appears to be suffering from lower respiratory tract infection.

It's important you start him on antibiotics as he has fever and it's been 3 days already. Give him PCT 250 mg twice a day and tab Amoxicillin 250 mg twice a day for 5 days. I also suggest you follow the following:

  1. Keep him warm with blankets; make sure he sweats out the fever.
  2. Give him cough syrup as well for dry cough.
  3. If there is increased production of sputum, then give him steam inhalation with Vicks.
  4. Ask him to breathe in completely.
  5. I also advice you to give him enough fruits especially citrus fruits that will boost his immunity.

I also suggest you after his infection subside, teach him some breathing exercises and yoga every day. It will help him be healthy.
