Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, HEPATITIS-C. Possible diagnosis?

For patient who has a following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. History of drug abuse and possible hepatitis C. Taking medication such as synthroid 100mcg daily, nifedipine 30mg daily, and prednisone 10mg daily.

What do you think is the possible diagnosis?

thanks for the reply. Just curious what the stool sample would accomplish and determine/rule out.

Hi,
The stool sample may help to rule out protozoal infection like giardiasis which can cause symptoms which you have mentioned.

Patient replied :

On average how long does the Pepto bismo affect stool colour?
Would the blood work I had done three months ago be sufficient in ruling out any more serious issues?

Hi,
It may take many days after you stop pepto bismol for the stool color to return to normal.
The blood work done 3 months ago may not be relevant for the current issue. You may have to repeat it.
