Resolved question:
So for about a year or so now (haven't gotten it checked out by a doctor yet) I have had a spot on my mid/upper/right back just below my shoulder blade go numb randomly, it never hurts or aches, it just goes numb like someone shot novacane into my back. I haven't had any injuries to my back or neck. I am 16. Could it be something I should get checked out or is it just a pinched nerve?

With reference to your query regarding the numbness in the mid/upper/right back just below your shoulder blade suggests you may be suffering from a pinch nerve. Theses nerves carry signals from the brain to the body and vice versa. Hence if it is pinched it can cause pain, numbness, tingling or weakness along the path of that nerve. Usually they get improvement by taking rest, ice, medication or physical therapy. Weakness or wasting of the muscles from pinched, nerve suggests permanent nerve injury. Nerves are of two types to function: i.e. motor (carry information from the brain) and sensory (to the brain). Causes might be from the pressure or compression, herniated disc, arthritis, bone spins or spinal stenosis, which results in sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome and so on, other causes are bruise, pregnancy, family history. The symptoms are pain, numbness, tingling, weakness of the muscles, may also cause neck pain, back pain, atrophy of the muscle of the palm or forearm. Medical history, CT Scan, or MRI, nerve conduction study or EMG can do diagnosis. Treatment consists of rest, ice, anti-inflammatory medications, physical therapy, surgery required to remove the portion of the disc or bone spin or spinal fusion. Prognosis in most cases recovers completely. If it is not improved conservatively, they may need surgery. So, earlier the better to prevent any occurrence of permanent nerve damage.
