Oral herpes Vs Genital herpes: the Ways of their transmission.

Resolved question:

Dear doctor; I have made a mistake of having oral sex with an infected woman with herpes in her genitals. I know that was insane of me but now I fear that I might get a STD or vd. Though I have researched that until genital herpes spread through saliva or genitals of the opposite partner but still I have issues over it. Please enlighten me on this.

Your query is appreciative. To start with, first of all herpes is of two types, first is the HSV-1 which is caused when oral sex or activities like that are done. This means that this type spreads through the mouth and other oral activities. The second one is the HSV-2 which is transmitted through the genitals. As you have had oral sex then there are chances of you to get contracted with the HSV-1 but only if your partner had infection in her mouth. You have also told that the woman you with you had sex was having herpes in her genitals that is the HSV-2. Your condition shows that since your genitals and your mouth have not come in contact with her genitals therefore it means you have not come in contact with her infected parts. As the oral sex was done by she and you received it you might not get it any way until there are some of that present in her saliva too.

There are also no very less possibilities of you to contract any vd due to this as vdis not caused until male and female genitals come in contact. You should get a check up done on priority basis so as to negate any kind of stress that might lead you into thinking about this. Also you should avoid any kind unprotected sex. Hope you query is clarified.
