Pain in back spine triggered on bending. Treatment.

Resolved question:
I am having a back pain for a week plus. I only realised it after active participation in tennis competitions and trainings for a week. I am not under any medications for the pain. I am trying to stretch eveyday to see if it helps. The pain will only be triggered if I bend forward or bend back. Other than these two movements, I do not feel any pain or discomfort when moving. It does not cause any other conditions too. I am not sure whether is it at the thoracic or lumbar region but it it somewhere around my lower back area. The pain is localised around the spine and it does not spread to any other parts of my body. It does not restrict my daily lifestyle too. May I know if this is a serious problem? And are there any ways to ease the pain? Will I require an X ray or even MRI? Will chiropractic therapy work?

Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I also apologise to you, for the exceptional delay in reply.
From your description it seems more of a muscle pull, since you participated in active sports recently.
Adequate rest, local anti inflammatory spray ( for instance volini spray ) and Tab. Advil twice a day will be helpful.
I will advise you to rest your back as much as possible and Tab. Advil for 3 days.
In case it does not resolve, you can get an X- RAY done. As of now i is not required.
Feel free to discuss further,
Regards.

Are there any substitute for the spray as I am afraid I cannot find it in Singapore. And I am allergic to NSAIDS too, any other alternatives for the medication? And I am not sure how does a muscle pull feels like, but it seems like it cause pain over a wide area while mine is localised around the spine rather than across the whole of my lower back. And could it be a sprain? When will I require medical attention?

Hello,
Thank you for the follow up.
In that case i am not sure what is locally available in Singapore, however if you request the pharmacist he will be able to guide you ( Relispray/ Volini ). I suggested volini spray since it is by ranbaxy and should be available globally. However any muscle relaxant spray will do.
Since you're allergic to NSAIDs i won't recommend using any of the painkillers.
You can take Tab. Chlorzoxazone 500 mg, twice daily, it is a good drug for muscle spasms.
Since it is localised it favors more in favor of muscle spasms.
Try this medication for 3-5 days. In case there is no relief, you can get an X-RAY done of your lower back and upload the reports.
Based on that i can guide you further,
Regards.
