Pain in chest after intense workout. Heart attack?

To whom it may concern,

My name is Moses and I am a 23 year-old male. I have previous history of asthma, but it is very mild. I recently started working out about 2 weeks ago and I am currently on my 3rd week. I have been doing a 20 minute HIIT (high intensity interval training) video from youtube for cardio purposes about 3-4 days per week and alternating with regular body weight exercises (pull-ups, push-ups, and dips) on other days. Yesterday evening I went running outside and it was somewhat windy. I ran about half of a mile and afterward I felt a minor pain on the left side of my chest. Is this a sign of a heart attack or is due to stress-related symptoms to the heart?

I understand your concern.
I should not be concerned about a heart attack, because you're too young to be thinking along those terms. I feel its more due to a strain that your body has been subjected too, mostly a muscular pain. How long did the pain last? Did you have any associated nausea/vomiting/ giddiness? I'm assuming there was no such symptoms, and anything serious can be ruled out.
Since you already have a history of asthma, be careful in the amount of strain you're putting your body through, especially since you're going through high intensity training. If you ever feel out of breath or difficulty in breathing, please consider other alternate modes of cardio.
Again to reassure i feel it is due to a muscular pain.
However if it persists along with the symptoms i mentioned ECG should be done.

Dr. Sebastian,
Thank you for responding to my matter. I am not sure how long the pain persisted for, but after cooling down, the pain started to lessen (maybe 10 mins?) None of the aforementioned symptoms were experienced at the time. Also, would you suggest that I rest for a few days to appropriate enough time to rest?

Yes it definitely seems to be a muscular pain.
It will be better if you can rest for a few days.
Muscular pains are extremely common during such work outs. You just have to be careful not to over strain yourself and be comfortable with what you're doing.

I woke just woke up from taking an hour long nap and I am feeling some numbness and tingly sensation on my back and arms. What could this be?

Thank you for the follow up.
Normally some people get a numbness feeling on their arms post waking up, becuase of the way they slept. At times our posture while sleeping leads to reduced blood supply to the nerve, and hence when we wake up, for a brief while there will be some numbness. How long did it persist?
Is there any difficulty is moving the arm?
Where exactly is the numbness in the back?
I will get a clearer picture once you answer these questions,

Hello,
I am able to move my arms, but the tingly/numbness sensations persisted all night and is still ongoing. I am not in pain but it is more of an annoyance. It's hard to describe exactly what it is that I am feeling, but the tingly/numbness I am experiencing is mainly felt in my legs, back and arms.

Thank you for writing back.
It can indicate a compression of the nerve pr a pinched nerve. If it persists beyond 2 days, a nerve conduction study can be done. Other causes such as nerve injury can be ruled out because there is no such available history.

Meanwhile i will advise you to start multivitamin supplement, any local brand would do. Once at bed time for a month should be fine. I am advising this to you, because at times nerve demyelination occurs which can lead to such widespread numbness and tingling. It automatically corrects itself with proper diet, however you can take any multivitamin that is locally available for the same.

If it persists beyond 2-3 days you can get a nerve conduction study done.
