Pain in right carotid artery area after minor stroke

Resolved question:
I am a little concerned about symptoms my father is having, and wondering if they are related to two recent minor strokes. His carotid arteries are clear, however, last night he had mild pain in his right carotid artery area that lasted a few minutes. This morning, at 5:00 am, he had what he described as "bad" pain on both sides of his neck. I remember him having these symptoms in July when he first returned home from the hospital.

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

First of all, I would like to reassure you that the current symptoms in your dad are not related to stroke.

Neck pain or pain in carotid artery area do not occur in stroke. Pain could be related to local pathology such as muscles, throat, etc.

I hope it helps. Please get back if you have any more queries.

Best wishes,
