Pain, stiffness after injuring ACHILLES on fall. Treatment.

Resolved question:
About 6 years old patientago I suffered an injury to my Achilles but never received any real medical attention. I was exercising and when I came down on the ball of my foot I felt a sudden pop in my heel and I collapsed. Since then I have had a few problems. I have morning pain and stiffness. Most mornings my first step on that foot is a loud pop. Also, when i rotate my foot in a counter clockwise way I experience a popping and crackling sensation. If I am on my feet all day at work the heel area of my foot also becomes very sore. When I walk up stairs my heel/ankle areas let out loud pops. So I am wondering what exactly my condition is? Is there any stand out remedies/treatment to stop this?

Thank You for your reply!
- I sometimes experience weakness in my leg when I first get up in the morning or if I have been on my feet all day.
- Now that it has been some years old patientsince the injury I can walk on my toes but usually when I raise up on my toes I experience the popping noise. When the injury first occured I could not walk on my toes.
- I can walk on my heel but it causes pain. It feels like I am walking on nothing but bone (if that makes sense).

Hello,
Thank you for the follow up.
It looks from your details that you may have tear of achillis tendon which may be partial tear. This tendon is major weight bearing structure of our leg .This diagnosis should be confirmed by your orthopedic doctor. There are some special clinical tests which can only be interpreted by an orthopedic specialists.
He may ask for MRI which will confirm the diagnosis.
If you are feeling pain then you may have a good analgesic like advil or aleeve.
Hoe this will help you.
With best wishes.

With a partial tear what are usually the treatments used? Is there any exercises/stretches that I could do to relieve pain?

If partial tear is in ununited condition then in your age it can be treated by surgery.
Exercises or stretches won't be helpful in your case.
Hope this will help you.
