Pins and needles below eyes after refilling of upper molar

Resolved question:
i had a refilling done around 3 weeks back in my upper right molar tooth. and after that i suddenly have a tingling and prickling sensation (like pins and needles) below my eyes in my cheek area just above my gum line. why is that so?

Hi,
Thanks for your consult at Doctorspring.com.

Sometimes there is a possibility that the filling done the second time might have been very close to the pulp chamber of your corresponding tooth, which was treated.
(The pulp chamber contains the pulp tissue which is the sensitive area of the tooth containing the nerves, blood vessels etc, basically life of the tooth).

So if the filling was very close to this area or during refilling if this area was breached, there is very good chance of developing pain, irritation and swelling in that area and surrounding areas like gum, cheeks may swell or u may have pain and associated irritation. such pain increases during sleeping position.

Just ask your dentist to do an xray and determine whether this tooth requires a root canal treatment.

i did an x ray and everything is fine according to the dentist the tooth , pulp etc. dont need a root canal. in fact my tooth doesnt pain. just a little bit of prickling sensation on my cheek and a little bit of heaviness in my cheek area. will it go away in time? in fact when i have an anti inflammation tablet it goes away for a day and then again comes back the next day.

i hope its not any nerve damage.

It could be some other issue not related to your teeth. Coincidentally must have started around the same time. Could be a small space infection in your tissue or a small ulcer like lesion in your cheek or any other issue.
Please consult your general physician for the same if problem persists.

I got a pns ct scan done. Nd there was a bit of infection from the filling that affected my sinus area.
I was put on a 10 day anti biotic course but after some days the prickling sensation came back. Could it b a referred pain of the filled tooth that is giving me that sensation?

You need to understand that any filling done in the tooth unless it is a root canal treated tooth cannot invade the sinus. For causing sinus infection the filling material must have penetrated beyond the tooth roots and it is not possible with regular fillings.

Just check with your ENT for sinus related problems.
If ENT surgeon confirms that it is caused by the filling material. Please get it removed, maybe u can go for an aletrnate filling such as a glass ionomer cement.
