Plasma cell balanitis.

Resolved question:
I have a red lesion on the head of my penis. It doesn't hurt or itch. It has scabbed twice and a layer of skin has come of but it is still red. It's been nearly 4 weeks and now I'm starting to get concerned.

Hello

Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com. I can understand your concern.

From the redness that I can see in the picture, there are two possibilities

1. Yeast with mixed bacterial infection

2. Plasma cell balanitis which is a benign condition and is a dermatitis of the glans.

This is a link for your reference.

I would recommend application of mupirocin cream and clotrimazole cream mixed and applied on the affected area for a week. The yeast infection should clear with that. In case it doesn't I would recommend that you visit your dermatologist once. It will be best to examine the lesion physically before confirming the diagnosis.

Please let me know if you have any queries.

Take care
