Plastic like thing came in stools. INTESTINAL PARASITE?

Resolved question:
I am concerned if I have an intestinal parasite. (sorry this is graphic)- I used the bathroom (#2) and something that looked like plastic came out. I also have a persistent cough with no other flu like or cold symptoms. Do you think I have a parasite and if so what do i do?

Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
What are your symptoms apart from the coughing. The coughing is unrelated to intestinal parasite.
Do you have any indigestion/nausea/bloating/ change in colour or consistency of stool?
The only thing that can come out is a parasite, which indicates worm infestation, which invaribaly has the above mentioned symptoms. Also there will be slight itching in the anal region, mostly in the night time.
Sometimes the symptoms may be completely absent.
If you have not taken any medicine for intestinal worms in the past 3 months, it is better you get treatment for the same.
I will advise you the appropriate medicine when you answer the questions i posted.
Regards.

HI,
I was unable to get the check marks to appear- the only allergies i have are seasonal (pollen, ragweed) and I 've had one surgery, a Cesarean section 18 years ago. My stomach does appear slightly bloated today. No other of the symptoms above. Thank you.

Hello,
In that case i will advise you to take Tab. Mebendazole Forte 150 mg once on day 0 at bed time, followed by another dose on the 2nd day. So these 2 doses have to be taken, and an interval of 48 hours have to be maintained after the first dose.
You will be fine once you take the medicine, because it is extremely effective against all worms.
Also take Tab. Lactobacillus 1-0-1 for a period of 7 days.
Kindly update after finish the course.
Regards.

Do I need to see a doctor for a prescription for these or are they available over the counter?

Expert:  Dr. Jaydeep Tripathy replied 2 Days.

Hello,
No they will be available over the counter.
In case Mebendazole is not available OTC, the alternative is Tab. Albendazole 400 mg one single dose to be taken at bed time. Only one dose will suffice.
Regards.
