Hello,
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
Patchy nodularity is very commonly seen in patients with allergic bronchitis & this may be the reason for your cough most likely ...

From your history & age the possibility of cancer seems very remote .

But I would still suggest that you get an HRCT (High resolution CT scan ) of the chest to rule out any doubts .

Do let me know if u need any other help,
Regards.

Thank you relieve a lot of my fear. A few more follow up question if you don't mind. 1 ) When they say "small patchy nodularity in the lower right lobe" is it single or multiple scattered location. 2) The term small how small is small? 3) I have history of bronchitis many time in my childhood and teenage year and mid 20 year old. Athough they have not see small patchy nodularity some don't even X-ray me. I cannot afford a ct it is expensive I don't have good health care. I can barely pay for this X-ray. will I be safe to accept your diagnosis allergic bronchitis. my father has also cough for a long time everytime he is diagnose with bronchitis there is no cancer in my family. 4) will this go away once bronchitis is clear?

1) & 2 ) Small patchy nodularity typically means less than 5 mms , mostly it is multiple , rare to get a single one then it is called by a different term .
3) By & large with a previous history of bronchitis .& no family history of cancer .......you can safely take allergic bronchitis as your diagnosis which is most common .
If your symptoms persist I would still insist on a HRCT chest ......NOTHING in the world is more precious than your health .......

Hi just to update and hope to get your opinion. I decided to ignore the ct scan. My doctor told me just to go get a second x ray. So I did yesterday a regular chest X-ray. It came out clear no mass nodule or anything no fluid. Basically it came out clear and no mention of patchy nodularity. I'm still coughing compare to the first three weeks of my cough today it's a lot better by the duration and intensity reminded me of the cough of early childhood I also ask my sibling she remembered many time I cough this long duration. My question is 1 do I still need a ct scan? Second what happen to the patchy nodularity? Is it because two different radiologist look at it and have different opinion? Blood test also came out normal with slight high neut count. Please advise

You definitely need a CT scan to rule out infections.
Yes, two different radiologists can have different view points.
