Soft bump on shaft of penis. POLYSPORIN.

Resolved question:
Hello,

I have had this, for lack of better words, soft bump on the shaft of my penis since February. I have been too shy to see a doctor about it in person, and only found out today you can talk to doctors online. I went to a pharmacist in May, and he told me to apply Polysporin to it. It has helped shrink it quite a bit, but it is still around. I am not sure what more to do, but here is the picture, and I am looking forward to a response.

Thank you!

If the picture is not clear enough, I can take another one.

Hello

Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com

I can understand your concern.

It seems to be genital warts, however I would appreciate one more picture to help me see the lesions properly.

Genital warts are a viral infection caused by the hpv virus and are sexually transmitted.

Aldara cream held to resolve them.
Awaiting another picture.

Regards.

Hello,
Here are 4 follow-up pictures, I snapped several, albeit similar, maybe some are clearer than others. Is Aldara cream an over-the-counter medication?

Thank you.

Hello Hello.
Thanks for your reply and the additional pictures.

It does seem to be a genital wart. Aldara cream is available only on prescription by your doctor. It helps in resolving the warts. It contains a medicine called imiquimod which is used to resolve the warts.
If it doesn't help, then it would be best to visit a Dermatologist who can treat you for it with podophyllin or freeze them off.
Let me know if you have further queries. Take care.

Hello,
As one last follow up question, just to let you know, there is an smell to it as well. Do genital warts tend to have a smell to it?
thank you

Hello

Thanks for your reply.

Genital warts don't have a smell to it. The smell usually comes from smegma which is due to accumulation of secretions in the area. This could happen in case you fail to clean it daily.

Please keep the area clean, remove the snegma out daily during bath. Hopefully the smell should resolve.

Take care
