Spreading rash on side of back. Nervous system problem?

Resolved question:
I have had a rash on the left side of my back for over a year now. I assume it has to do with my nervous system. Periodically it begins to grow and has now taken over the whole left side of my back. It doesn't spread anywhere else and some of the spots are now scars. It doesn't really itch at all. I've had heat rashes before, but this one only sits on the left side of my back. I take Xanax for anxiety and when I asked my doctor about the rash he was clueless. It has now spread all the way down my left side and I can't find any answers or any rash that looks like mine on the Internet. This picture was taken 27 days ago it continues to grow and it's only on the left hand side.

Hello,

Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com

I can understand your concern.

This seems to be a fungal infection called pityriasis versicolor. This is definitely not related to nervous system in any way.

It happens in conditions of heat and humidity. Its a benign infection and the colour comes back after eight weeks.

You will need to apply nizoral lotion , take equal quantity of water to be applied on the back and front below neck for 15 mins before bath for two weeks and then stop it.

This will help eliminate the fungus.

Hope this helps.

Regards.
