STD tests- relative importance

Resolved question:

Hi doctor, I recently had sex and after two days I saw a small head on one of my testicles. I used a condom during sex but it was torn. Could the head be a symptom of genital warts? I recently saw some Genital warts pictures, they were very disturbing.

Thanks for your question. In your case I would definitely advise you to consult a doctor and get yourself tested. It might be a result of HPV causing genital warts as seen by you in many Genital warts pictures. However, there is no need to panic because it can also be a pimple which is on your testicle. But it is always better to get tested so that there are no doubts. In your case you said that the condom that you were wearing broke during the course of sexual activity. Now the intercourse that you had will no longer be considered as protected intercourse. It is now unprotected and hence there is always a possibility of getting affected by one of the many sexually transmitted diseases if not genital warts. You also said that you never ejaculated. Ejaculation is not a primary factor in determining whether you will have a sexually transmitted disease or not. There are many STDs which can be transmitted to an individual with simple touching only during intercourse. for example if you would have shaved your genital area then there might be some kind of cut which for you is not very painful and bothering but when you have intercourse then the contact of that cut with the infected person’s genitals can also make you affected by any sexually transmitted disease not just genital warts. Hence, it is advisable that you consult your doctor as soon as possible and get yourself tested thoroughly. I hope your doubts are cleared. Take care.
