STI and HIV tests should be done on regular intervals.

Resolved question:

Hello Doctor,

I am afraid if I am having some STI after having sex that was completely protected with an escort. My doctor said that all the reports and tests are negative but I should undergo a regular checkup of HIV.

Thanks for your question and concern. First of all I would like to inform you that whenever a person is found to be positive in HIV testing the body of the person actually starts developing antibodies against the body itself. Now what is identified in the body of a person through the HIV testing is the level of the antibodies. The antibody level would decide how accurate the HIV test is. Usually for most of the people the antibodies develop in the time span of 6 weeks or even up to 3 months. If you get the tests done within these 3 months then your results of the HIV testing might come up positive but that does not indicate that you are free from the HIV virus. The HIV is also a STI that occurs due to the transmission of HIV virus from one body to the other when the two bodies come in sexual contact with each other. It is pretty unusual that a body takes more than 6 months to predict that it has been developing the antibody though it is not impossible. You can get the tests done after a year also if it still comes positive then I think there should not be any risk for this STItoaffect your body. But you need to take proper precautions whenever you have sex with someone. Do not get involved in sexual activities with multiple partners because that increases the risk of the transmission of different virus to a great extent. You can also consult about this issue with your personal doctor in case you feel any issue or problem related to sex. Take care.
