GERD like symptoms and H pylori with bounding pulse on lying down

Resolved Question:

Hi im 28 female 6ft 300lbs. For the last year I have suffered with gerd-like symptoms after i was diagonsed with hpylori a year ago. I took the antibiotics but the reflux never stopped. I sleep sitting up but still wake up abruptly with a mouthful of acid. My heart rate increases as I sleep. Also I have bounding pulse thats so strong I can feel it in my fingers. I know that iv let myself go weight-wise. I used to be a 150 llbs and very very active up until 5 years ago. Ekg checked out. Cholesterol and blood sugar good as i work out.Blood pressure normal usually under 120 even with bounding pulse. Its so distressing to not know what is wrong. Nexium doesn't seem to work as I still get ridiculous reflux and rapid pulse. Sucralfate didnt work either. Im at my wits end. My heart beats so hard sometimes my chest hurts. My neck hurts my back hurts. Either I'm very very sick or I have fatal acid reflux. Im working on my permanent residency and hace no insurance so I cant see a specialist yet. I go to a local clinic.no-one can figure out whats happening to me. They say it must be anxiety. I know that im NOT anxious. Also if I lie down my pulse increases but as soon as I sit up it tapers off. Pulse usually normal count 80 and under just really strong. Can anyone help me? Iv almost resigned myself to the possibility that I may have a very short life. Just incase this may be related iv never had my period.hormones normal. Some kind of genetic problem. My internal reproductive organs are embryonic. Never been an issue though. Have never had a proper "ladies" exam. Im a full time student and work. 70hrs a week. Hope to make it to med sch. If im still alive that is....

Thank you for choosing DoctorSpring.

Well, the sympotms you have described are non specific. By non specific I do not mean that they are not significant. It means that these symptoms are not suggestive of a single diagnosis.

However I can say for sure that there is nothing Fatal or alarming . There is nothing called 'fatal GERD!'. Your GERD is probably due to the lax spinchture than the H.Pylori. And if you are overweight it will be difficult to manage with medications alone.

The change in heart rate and force is nothing to worry about. It is supposed to be that way. But if you are overly concerned about it, you may feel it all the time. Sorry to sound clichéd and repetitive. You do seem to have a component of anxiety neurosis. This might not be apparent for you, but the symptoms are suggestive. Moreover address it will un mask any other significant symptoms you may have. I would recommend a psychiatric evaluation as the first step.

You should also get a Thyroid Function tests. The congenial Gynaecological problems seems unrelated to the current symptoms. Meanwhile you should initiate a regular exercise programme which should involve 40-60 minutes of aerobic + anaerobic exercise. This will help in your GERD and palpitation like symptoms. Avoid eating late in night. Sleep on rather an empty stomach. Continue with anti ulcer medication like Prilosec.

Hope this helps
