Swelling of glands on side of neck. CANCER?

Resolved question:
Hi there I am a 23 year old female with health anxiety. I have got a swelling about the size of a grape where my glands are in my neck which has been there over a week. The other side is normal just my right side. It isn't showing any signs of decreasing in size and I am petrified I have been to see two docs who don't seem concerned but u can only feel it when I tilt my head so I am worried that they have missed it. I have had a sore throat and tongue but nothing major but had a throat infection weeks previous where my glands came up but they went again.I am so worried that it's some form of gland cancer or neck cancer and was hoping you could put my mind at rest. It is in the typical gland area under the neck and is firm but isn't particularly tender to touch. If it was cancerous would it be able to be felt at all angles regardless of whether I was tilting my head or not ? Regards katherine

Hello,

Thank you for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com

You have an enlarged neck node, you had sore throat last week. Most of time node occur following infection of throat and nose only and it may persist for some time. But if it is not improving or increasing in size that we can do following investigation-

USG or ultrasound neck to see size shape and content of node.

If require we can do FNAC , that will provide diagnosis and rule out cancer.

With this presentation in young age cancer is very unlikely.

Hope this helps

Best regards
