Symptoms and effect of ENDOMETRITIS on fertility.

Resolved question:
I found out that I have chronic endometritis from a endometrial biopsy for IVF. I was given antibiotics. I had never experienced any symptoms of endometritis so it was a surprising finding. How long could I have had endometritis and not know about it? My concern is that I could of had it for a long time and not know about it and have too much damage for fertility in the future. Is it possible to have endometritis for months/years old patientand not have any symptoms?

Hello
Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com
It is possible to harbour subclinical endometritis for a few months and not know about it.
Symptoms would include irregular menstrual bleeding, altered discharge, inter menstrual bleeding or spotting, intermittent pelvic / lower abdominal pain.
Undiagnosed endometritis can affect fertility by damaging the endometrium, but the endometrial status would have been clarified during IVF.
So if that is fine, dont worry.
Also, for years old patienttogether , if you had endometritis, symptoms would have definitely shown up.
All the best.
Please feel free to discuss further,
Regards.

Thank you for your response. Would levofloxacin for 10 days help treat the chronic endometritis completely? Would I be likely to have it again in the future?

Hello,
Endometritis is an infection.
Ideally , the tissue should be sent for culture, and then culture based antibiotics should be started. The right course of antibiotics would completely cure it. Yes, like any other infection, it can recur, but once totally cured, chances are quite low. Take care.
