Time for BIRTH CONTROL PILL to become effective.

Resolved question:
Hi ,

How long does it take for the birth control pill to become effective? My wife and I had unprotected sex on the 7th day after she started taking the birth control pill. She began taking a the birth control pill a week after her period ended. She said that her cycle is typically normal.

Should we purchase the morning after pill to avoid becoming pregnant or are we ok?

Thank you

Hello,
Thank you for your query at doctorspring.com
Under no circumstances must a cotton be re-used in the setting you have described. The possibility of getting HIV this way has never been documented and appears highly unlikely.
But no alcohol does not kill the HIV virus. Glutaraldehyde is probably the most effective disinfectant to inactivate HIV virus but is not used routinely because it causes hypersensitivty reactions in persons repeatedly exposed to it.
Hope this helps
