This could be from a number of causes. In order to zero in to a cause and to give you treatment recommendations we will require some additional information from you. 1. Since how long you have this pain and swelling ? 2. Do you have pain or swelling (even minor) in any other joints ? 3. Do you have any fever ? 4. Any history of trauma ? Like a fall or hitting on the floor etc ? Please reply as a followup
