Uncontrollable jerky shudders/shakes lasts for a second, 1-3 times a week.

Resolved question:

I have been having uncontrollable shudders/shakes for the past few years. They most commonly happen when I feel cold all of the sudden, but they are more than a normal shiver as they are rather jerky and uncontrollable. They only last for a second at most and only occur 1-3 times a week on average. The shivers have not gotten any more frequent lately, but I am curious if this is a symptom of an underlying condition

Hello, Thank you for asking your query at DoctorSpring.

From your symptoms, it is tremors you have developed over the years. There are many reasons why tremors develop. Causes could be multiple sclerosis, stroke, traumatic brain injury or neurological disorders. Other causes can be drugs like corticosteroids, amphetamines or alcohol abuse, mercury poisoning, liver failure etc.

I suggest you to visit a physician, who will test you for liver function test, CT Scan.

Meanwhile, I suggest you to take vitamin B12 tablets twice a day and also do some breathing exercise.

Hope this helps. Please feel free to ask follow-up questions
