Hello and thankyou for approaching DoctorSpring with your query.
I have gone through you case and understand your concern.
From what you have described you most likely have symptoms of Urinary retention.
It can be due to prostate enlargement, constipation, medications, urinary tract infection.
Please can you answer a few questions so that we can find the probable cause of the urinary retention.
1) Do find it difficult to urinate, feel dribbling at the end of urination or incomplete emptying of your bladder?
2) Did you notice any blood in your urine?
3) Have you noticed any weight loss or fatigue recently?
4) Are you on any medications on a long term basis for your cold or any other health problem?
5) Since how long have you been experiencing these symptoms?

Depending on this I will advise you on what tests you need to get done.
Please can you reply as a follow up. .
Thankyou

Hello and thankyou for your reply. I wen through your tests.
Your symptoms of phlegm and urinary symptoms are not related.
For the phlegm I would advise you to take,
1) Steam Inhalation. Inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth. Repeat this a few times. You can do steam inhalation twice a day.
This should help control your symptoms. You can also use Normal saline nasal irrigation sprays.

Regarding your Lower Urinary tract symptoms, you will have to get the following tests done to find the cause.
1) Uroflowmetry + Postvoid Residual Urine
2) Transabdominal ultrasound
3) Serum Prostate Specific Antigen
4) X-Ray of lumbosacral spine, to rule out cause of back pain.

You can get back to me with the tests results. Treatment can be started accordingly.
I hope this has helped.
Thankyou

I also want to add that my ESR as tested on 17/03/2014 was 69mm/hr.

Hello and thankyou for the additional information.
ESR could be raised in case of an infection or inflammation. Hence it is advisable to get the above mentioned tests to diagnose the exact cause of your symptoms. In addition I would also advise you to get a PPD test done.

I hope this has helped. Do follow up with your test results.
Thankyou
