Vaginal std symptoms

Resolved question:

Hi, I got married two months back. Before marriage I was actively involved into sex with my boyfriend. But unfortunately we can’t take our relationship to another step and I have to marry someone of my parent’s choice. I have started suffering from some unusual smell from vagina. I was wondering is this vaginal smell a symptom of std?

Hi,

Thanks for contacting us.

If the smell from vagina is fishy, it can be because of two reasons:

  1. Trichomonas, a very common STD, with problems of pain, itching etc. the discharge is often yellow-greenish and sometimes foaming. In some areas of the world, it’s quite seldom. It can be treated with antibiotics.
  2. Bacterial vaginosis is an imbalance in the vaginal microflora- known by 10-40 % of all women. It related to hormone status, diet and use of IUD etc. the discharge is white/gray and normally the smell is the most predominant symptom. It can be easily treated by using antibiotics. Enriching diet with carbohydrate rich food items helps in treating microbial imbalance.

Go and get to the clinic and talk to doctor about it openly, so that doctor can give you right medications and treatment for same.
