What is this scaly mole which is red underneath?

Resolved question:
I have a question about a scaly mole that has appeared on my left forearm. I have attached a picture. It is almost exactly 1/8" across. I'm a 43 year old male. I scraped off a lot of scaly material and it was red underneath. I did that two days ago. The scaly material has since started to come back. I have attached a picture.

Hello

Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com. I can understand your concern.

This seems to be actinic keratosis, which is a premalignant condition. It is a UV light–induced lesion of the skin that may progress to invasive squamous cell carcinoma, hence its important to treat it as soon as possible.

It will be best to visit your dermatologist and get a biospy done from him to confirm the diagnosis.

The treatment options that he provides will be depending on whether its progressing to squamous cell carcinoma. Aldara cream helps in treatment of actinic keratosis.

Please let me know if you have any queries.

Take care
