Will PYRETHRIN affect early in pregnancy?

Resolved question:
Hello:

I wasn't thinking and I gave me dog a bath using flea shampoo that contains chemicals. I am 6 weeks pregnant and really worried this may have caused damage to my baby.

I was only one time and immediately washed my hands with soap and water. What are the chances of any harm?

It contains pyrethins, which I read could lead to autism? Would it be harmful this early in pregnancy?
I am sure people do a ton of things in early pregnancy before they know they are pregnant, but I am just super worried!

Hello
Just bathing your dog once with the pyrethin containing shampoo would NOT lead to any kind of adverse effect on the baby.
It is prolonged, long term exposure to the chemical that can trigger off autistic spectrum changes in the baby, and yes, that effect can start as early as the first few weeks of pregnancy, persisting right upto term.
Avoid pyrethin containing compounds in the future, and do not let them linger indoors at all.
It is best to switch over to another organic product or let somebody else handle your dog outdoors, avoiding exposure to yourself.
However, stop worrying as just one single episode cannot produce autism, it is a cumulative effect of long term exposure.
All the best

Thank you! That puts my mind at ease. We will not be using those product anymore. I did notice there was a bit of the order in the house? We have 2 dogs, although I only bathed one of them but both we did indoors. I was out of the house most of the evening afterwards. I'm also going to bath the dogs tomorrow with regular shampoo to get it off of them.
Since the ordor is in the air could that cause prolonged exposure? I checked the bottle and it contained .15% . I was also worried about it being absorbed in my skin since it was on my hands and I noticed a pin sized cut ? Would it have gone in my blood?
i spoke with my OB and she told me it was fine and I would be ok. Sorry to ask so many questions but I had a miscarriage a few months ago and fearful I put myself at a risk bc I wasn't thinking :(. I've been a bit paranoid with everything this time around!

to me

Hello
You can never be careful enough while nurturing another life, and you do not sound at all paranoid to me.
I would be happy to address any doubts whenever and however many you should have !
It cannot be absorbed from a pin sized cut, unless there was active bleeding at that time.
Secondly, leave the doors and windows open and enter the house only after the last trace of all odour has gone.
In future bathe them outdoors or use another product.
Get some rest, this episode will not harm you, I reassure you.
Take care.
Regards

Thank you! I'm going to relax about it. There isn't anything I can do about it now:)
From now on no chemicals! This pregnancy thing is both awesome and scary! Would you suggest bathing the dogs today to remove the sent of the shampoo from their fur?

Expert:  Dr. Aarti Vazirani replied 1 Day.

Hello. Thanks for writing to us again.
No that is not required. The scent from the fur is definitely not strong enough to possibly cause any damage. Kindly relax as I mentioned earlier. Your pregnancy will be absolutely uneventful.
Have a great day!
