Medication for genital herpes and chances for spread

Resolved question:

Hello doctor, I am a 21 years old female. I stay with my boyfriend and am sexually active with him. Recently I found a genital herpes medicine of my boyfriend. I asked more about that to him and he told that he doesn’t has got herpes but is taking the medicine as a precaution and he finds it comfortable when he use this medicine. Can it be so? Will any doctor prescribe this medication as a preventive step if someone is not affected with herpes? My boyfriend agreed that he used to have sex with another girl, about 4 years ago, who died at that time. He was in a doubt that she might have got herpes and went to test it for himself but came back negative. But I am not sure whether he is lying to me or not. Can I get affected with herpes, if he once had it and has got it cured by now. I am really lost and frustrated and am afraid of death. Please help me as soon as possible.

Thanks for your question. It is unlikely that a trained doctor will advise such medications to one who has not got affected with herpes. What you suspect may be right, as he may have herpes. To make things genital herpes remedy has not yet been found effective in eradicating the virus entirely and there are chances for repeated outbreaks. However, herpes infection is not as deadly as you think. Treatment for herpes is symptomatically administered and is found effective most of the times. It is better to go to a doctor and check for genital herpes. You can also ask your boyfriend to take the test. Take care.
