Anxiety Disorder.

Resolved question:
I am prescribed 1mg of klonopin a day for severe anxiety, and last week after a back injury was given a prescription for 2mg of dilaudid, with the instruction to take 1-2 every four hours. Part of my anxiety is around medical/medication issues, and I'm feeling really anxious about taking these drugs together, despite assurances from my prescriber and the ER doctor. I'd just like some more reassurance. So today I took my usual 1mg of klonopin around 5pm, and 2mg of dilaudid at 7:30. It is now 10pm and I'm still in significant pain, but I'm really anxious about taking another dilaudid. I read that the half life of dilaudid is 2-3 hours, so would this be safe?
Basically, I'd just like some reassurance that this is ok to take.

Thank you for your consult at DoctorSpring.
Take another dilaudid for your pain. Nothing will happen except, you will feel better with less anxiety and less pain, and get a nice sound sleep for the night.

Do not take more than 3 pills in four hours as that could be excessive and dangerous.

Please feel free to ask any follow up questions. Take care and be well.
