Blackout episodes, dizzyiness, cramping with headache. Treatment?

Resolved question:
Hi,
Last two weeks I have been feeling dizzy and almost had two black out episodes, cramping, indegestion, and been fatigued with headaches. Thyroid and iron levels are normal but there was a trace of protine in my urine. This week symptoms have eased but there is leukocytes in my urine (I am a nurse so I can check) with out nitrates. Any idea of what it could be? Im female, in 2 days my period is due
I am on the pill and a pregnancy test was negative
There were no nitrates in my urine either

Hello,
Thanks for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I understand your concern
Dizziness and black-out might be due to many reasons including but not limited to electrolyte imbalance, anemia, dehydration, low blood sugar, heart problems, low blood pressure, infections, ear problems. The symptoms you described are very non-specific. I recommend you to get investigations like CBC, renal function tests, electrolytes, thyroid function tests, blood sugar that may provide clue to cause of your symptoms. Low levels of leucocytes may be normal but urine analysis is required to rule out significant level of leucocytes. Also trace levels of protein can be present normally.
Please feel free to discuss further
Thanks

Hi, Thank you for getting back to me. I dont have a history of any of the above that you have asked me to tick. My thyroid test I just had done was normal. I had iron deficency anemia when I was in the last 3 months of my pregnancy but will arrange for other testing to be done. Also when I stand my blood pressure goes up I think. Where as when I was pregnant it went down. the only thing I havent checked Is blood sugar levels. Many thanks, Laila.

Yes, I presume you meant to say, when you stand up the BP falls. That is known as postural hypotension and can in itself cause blackout episodes.
Please get the investigations as I advised, and get back to me with your reports.
Regards.
