Blisters on lips after oral sex

Resolved question:

The day after having oral sex with my boyfriend I noticed blisters on my lips. The first day there were only a few but the next day they became more numerous on the 2nd day and half of my upper lip became swollen. They didnt really itch or anything. Day 3 they looked like they had gone down now I just have tiny open blisters on my lips. And in some places where the blister was, theres just a little spot of blood. There wasnt a crusting over process though.

Hello,

Thanks for posting your query at DoctorSpring.com. I can understand your concern.

You seem to be having herpes labialis or cold sores.

You need to treat it with oral intake of antiviral medication called valacyclovir. You will need a prescription for it.

You can apply neosporin cream over it twice a day for a week. This will resolve the lesions.

Please let me know if you have any follow-up queries.

Take care

Is there a possibility that it could be something else? And one are the chances that I gave it to my boyfriend if I didn't have bumps at the time?

Hello

Thanks for your reply.

It seems like herpes, doesn't seem to be anything else.

If you don't have blisters at the time, chances of transmission are low however, the are still chances of transmission as there can be asymptomatic shedding of the virus too.
