Hello! My girlfriend (44yo) has had an unsuccessful abortion after drinking large amounts of parsley tea. She described "expelled blood and tissue". She's now 8 weeks into the pregnancy, and we're extremely worried. What are the chances of the fetus still being healthy if the placenta was damaged? Any recommendations? Is it too risky to see the pregnancy through? Thank you very much! Daniel

I understand your concern.
Frankly, it does not sound good.
If she has bled a lot / expelled a lot of tissue, the fetus is less likely to be viable.
What you can do is go for an ultrasound scan right away.
If the heartbeat of the baby is intact, and the surrounding structures seem normal, you can then decide about continuation.
Please upload the scan report as soon as you have had it.

Thank you much! could you please tell me what percentage of women still go through with the pregnancy after an unsuccessful abortion ? There is a risk of anomalies (such as missing fingers) from lack of sufficent oxygen if placenta was disrupted, correct?
