Resolved question:
I am 76 years of age and I have had 4 prostate surgeries via the Urethra and two bladder neck scar tissue removal ops. The last of these was a year ago when they had to use X-Ray with entry via a Supra pubic catheter and also via the Urethral catheter. It was successful and things went well. One year on I am being discharged with the comment that whilst my flow rate is low 12 mls as against 15mls, I full empty my bladder. The comment made is that I should return in 12 months to check it all out again, perhaps (most likely) resorting in further surgery. My thought, which the surgeons agree is that by cutting away scar tissue they will in fact be creating more scar tissue, to be surgically removed. As a one time operation, would being surgically or chemically castrated relieve my future bladder problems ? I feel that it would be worth castration at my age to prevent further prostate and bladder problems.
One result from my ops is that I do suffer with post voiding dribble. During the day I can handle it, whilst at night I wear a diaper and plastic pants and I am quite content.
Past Medical History I should have added that I have been now discharged from Secondary care Mental Health.

You seem to have developed stricture urethra secondary to prostate surgery. It is good to know that you have been dong well for last one year. Yearly checkup is desirable. Your disease process shall not get worsened with clearing away the tissue and hence I shall suggest you to get the check up done.
Castration shall not resolve your urethral issues and hence is not desirable. Kindly refrain from any such drastic step and just get the checkup done.

Dear Dr Rajiv Goel Ji,
Thank you for your response regarding my
possible castration. I understand fully where you are coming from,
however I sent some additional things that could have been considered.
Firstly I am 76, I am a widower. I am greatly over sexed which is a
great embarrassment. I need to wear incontinent Plastic pants to
protect my outer clothing becoming wet. When I masturbate I do not get
an outward ejaculation. I feel that the semen go's into the bladder
increasing the need for bladder neck incision. My Urologist has tried
to get me to self Catheterise to keep the neck open. All this is to no
avail. I wonder whether this alters your opinion. If it does which
would be preferred chemical or surgical castration.
Dear sir,
I have reviewed your history and all the complaints. Getting castration shall not serve for any of the complaints other than the oversexed problem.
I shall not advise castration as it is not indicated in yourself. Castration leads to weakness of bones, increased incidence of cardiac events and also earlier memory loss.
