Dizzy and pain at base of neck

Resolved question:
Hi

I have been feeling a bit dizzy , seems like more so when I lean my head forward, there is constant pain at the base of my head on neck.

I just had blood tests, apparently the only thing out of range was sodium, it was a few points below normal.

I will also add, I got this weird acne on my back, I am 55 and have never had acne in my life, it has since gotten better from when it started say 2 months ago. I do have rosacea on face. I also have a bit of muscle pain in legs, chest, neck. I am an anxiety sufferer.

I don't know if these things are all separate or if they tell you a better complete story.

The dizziness is what really bother me, for about 1 month now.

Thank you

Hello,

Thank you for choosing DoctorSpring.

I would like some additional information from you so that I can provide my best and learned opinion.

1. During the episode of dizziness do you feel any nausea ?
2. Do you have the feeling that the room or environment is moving around you ?
3. Do you have any ear pain ?
4. Do you have weakness / numbness / decreased sensations of arms / legs
5. Any blurring of vision / double vision / visual disturbances ?

The acne - is it raised from the surface ? Does it look like a mole ?

You can reply as a followup
Thank you

Patient replied :

1- I really don't feel nausea
2- Yes i would say environment moving around me
3- No constant ear pain, occasional left ear (maybe once every 3 days)
4 - legs felt like jelly only a few times
5 - I would say very slight visual disturbances, no blur or double.

Acne is raised, lots of little red spots, does not look like a mole (maybe kind of but they are red)

Thank you for the additional information. I discussed your concern with our team Neurologist .

We feel that this Dizziness needs a Neurological evaluation. This does not appear to be of a serious concern , but to be safe a Neurological (including ENT) evaluation is warranted. The dizziness in likely to be related to the inner ear , which control the balance. (Called BPPV). You will need a type of medication called vestibular sedatives.

Its a good sign that you do not have any major warning signs of a stroke (the ones I have asked)

The acne is not directly related to this and you need not worry about this.

Hope this helps

The dizzy part also seems to happen with any movement, maybe svn climbing stairs. Any concern?

Expert:  Dr. Jaydeep Tripathy replied 2 Days.

This again is pointing towards a BPPV. Benign paroxysmal position vertigo . The problem lies in the inner ear, which regulates the balance. So when there is movement the inner ear could become extra sensitive. There are medications called vestibular sedative which can treat this condition. Please consider this in consult with your GP.
