Fecal body odour, HALOTOSIS after automobile accident.

Resolved question:
Hi, i'm a 20 year old male who hasn't seen a doctor in about 7 years. about 14 months ago I was in a high speed automobile accident during which I wasn't wearing a seatbelt and the airbags didn't deploy. At the time I was heavily under the influence, as well as sleep deprived, and I was afraid of getting ticketed for these things, so I refused medical attention, signed a waiver, and got out of the ambulance and got my mother to pick me up at the accident. I rationalized that since I was able to walk fine, I wouldn't have any problems and had just gotten incredibly lucky.

For the next two weeks, I had dificulty walking, which I attributed to bruising and such, and over time I was able to become accustomed to it. I also experienced a string of respiratory infections, the worst of which was a simultaneous case of strep throat and sinusitis, which seemed to concern the GP at the walk-in clinic, and I was prescribed antibiotics, which seemed to clear that up.

Now, since then, I've experienced odd symptoms. A combination of Fecal body odor, fecal halitosis, and a constant bloated feeling, shortness of breath, and frequently i feel a gurgling sensation as though pockets of trapped gas were being expelled. It seems like a belch, but I can tell it's coming from "lower" in my abdomen, if that makes sense, and it has a distinct odour of feces.

My question is, is it possible for someone to live with peritonitis for over a year?

When I use the bathroom, I often feel like the majority of the feces is being diverted and only small rabbit excrement-like pieces come out, often with undigested food in them, and my urine is thick, crystalline and odorous. Furthermore, I lost about 40lbs and I have only decreased my level of activity since then, spending most of my time seated at work or at home in front of the computer.

Hello. Thanks for posting your query on DoctorSpring.com.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you. No peritonitis is an emergency. Patient will not survive if not treated on time. It is unlikely that you have peritonitis, that too for one year. The possible causes for your symptoms are gut infection, malabsorption or a fistula (abnormal communication) inside. I would advise you to undergo an upper GI endoscopy, a stool test and a CT scan of the abdomen as the first step. Further management can be planned based on these test reports.
I hope that answers your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr.R.K.
