Fibroma under ear lobe.

Resolved question:
I have a little swelling under and near my ear lobe. I looked it up and it could be my parotid gland. I'm really scared. What is it?

Hello,

Thank you for using Ask a Doctor Service from Doctor Spring.
Most likely swelling in this area is either from parotid gland or lymphnode. But it may be a fat collection (lipoma) or may by just some skin lesion like cyst under skin(sebaceous cyst), it may be swelling of muscle including fibroma.
All these conditions are easy to treat. Important is to get correct diagnosis.

Please write if you have any of these symptoms-
duration of swelling
painful or painless?
Pain on touch (tenderness)?
Approximate size
Increasing in size or same size
Any associated symptoms including fever, difficulty in swallowing or cold?

You can get consultation by your local ENT or head & neck specialist. Some time we may need ultrasound scan of same area.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask if you have any further queries.

Thank you.

Hello,

Thanks for getting back.

It seems not to be a serious problem.
Not a infection so no need to start any antibiotic or analgesic or any other medication. But it needs to be examined by a local doctor, NOT URGENT.

Full bloodwork done . . . everything is completely normal. Went to head & neck doctor going to do ultrasound to see. Checked other lymph nodes, nothing is going on there. Still nervous.

You need NOT worry. It is normal to have swellings like lipoma, lymph nodes and cysts in the body. Infact more than 90% of individuals will have some sort of swellings in the body and 100% will have at some point of time. If properly evaluated there is absolutely nothing to worry. Thank you

Ultrasound showed abnormal right parotid, no visible mass or stone, but growth cannot be excluded. Had FNA. A total wreck.

Hello,

The Ultrasound is equivocal / non specific. Do you have the FNAC reports ?

Thank you
