Headache, back and neck pain due to VIRUS. ANTIBIOTICS.

Resolved question:
Have had a virus for over a week (both my kids had it also, one developed tonsilitis and the other bronchitis) i however have had this virus move to my sinus, create fluid in my ears but now it has moved to my chest (productive and now non productive) i am now experiencing immense headaches and bad back and neck pain, nurofen seems to work for the time being but just wondering if i may need antibitoics to get rid of this thing?

Hello.
Thank you for your query at DoctorSpring.com
The infection was definitely pretty bad since your kids also developed tonsillitis and bronchitis respectively. The problem with viral infections are if they don't settle down in a day or two they make us more prone for bacterial infections. In that case it is better to start antibiotic as early as possible.
I will advise you take the following medicines for the next 5 days :
1) Tab. Amoxycillin-Clavulanic Acid ( Augmentin ) 650 mg twice daily for 5 days.
2) Continue with the painkiller since it will help in reducing the back and neck pain.
3) Cap. Cobadex CZS, once daily at bed time for 5 days.
Continue the following medicines for 2 days and update me on your symptoms.
Regards.
