Hit left elbow, hurts to straighten or bend at elbow.

Resolved question:

I hit my left elbow pretty hard on the top of my car door this morning while it was open. At first the pain was so intense that it knocked the wind out of me but as of right now its about a 6.5. I have iced it but it hurts to even do that. The part that got hit is referred to as the luna? I think. It hurt to straighten it or bend it all the way, and the pain is really bad with the slightest touch. There is no open wounds and very slight bruising. My question is, possibly just bad bruising or something more serious because of the pain?

Hello,

From the symptoms you have specified, it appears you could have fractured your elbow.

The signs of fracture is increased pain, swelling that doesn’t go down over time and inability to move, these are what you should look out for. There are chances you could have damaged ulna nerve if it's the medial condoyle you have hurt.

Elbow is a joint made of three bones, distal end of humerus, proximal end of radius and ulna. One of the bones has been fractured. I suggest you consult an orthopedician who will advise you to take X-ray and find out which bone has been fractured. I suggest you don't move your elbow. You will mostly need a shoulder supported cast. Take combiflam for inflammation and Tylenol for pain.

There is a possibility you could have hurt your ulna nerve if it's the medial epicondyle that's damaged. If that's case for regeneration of nerve it will take time, I suggest you take vitamin b12 and neurobion, which will accelerate the growth.

Thank you.
