Professional advice for BROKEN 4TH METACARPAL BONE.

Resolved Question:

Broken 4th metacarpal bone of my right hand.. Injury happened two days ago while playing soccer. Need a professional advice (second opinion) if i will have to undergo a surgery. Really would like to avoid the surgery, but i am concerned about the long oblique fracture. I can move my fingers, have sensation and can make a fist without feeling a strong pain . Right now having a temporary splint.

CLINICAL INDICATION: right hand pain and injury

PRIOR: None

Right hand multiple views shows oblique fracture from the proximal to distal shaft of the fourth metacarpal. There is no dislocation
nonspecific increased density possible bone islands involve the head of the fourth distal phalanx and fifth middle phalanx... No
evidence of a radiopaque foreign body. Articular surfaces are intact and mineralization is consistent with age.

I have read your question with diligence.If you are not concerned about mild deformity at your hand then such type of fracture can be united well in plaster splint.The major advantage with surgery is you may start your work soon after surgery although there are concerens about some complications like infection .Infection rate is not too much in good setting.
