I understand your concern.
It depends on what area you are getting your tattoo on. It does not hurt as much in areas with more muscle mass, but it does hurt on areas where there is more fat like triceps area, or the belly, or the waist.
However, the pain will last throughout the time you are getting your tattoo, but once it starts you will get used to it. Make sure you have taken your meal and you're adequately hydrated.
On a scale of 1-10, it will be a persistent 5/10 the entire duration.
