Is it neccesary to take ANTIBIOTICS for infected ear?

Resolved question:
my college aged daughter had an earring in her ear lobe that got infected. the earring got inbedded into her ear and she had to basically have it cut out.

the doctor told her to take antibiotics for the infection. she's taken a lot of antibiotics in her young life and doesn't want to take them unless it's really necessary. so our question is do you think that this is a situation that warrants taking them.

Hello,
Thanks for your query at DoctorSpring.com
I understand your concern
You said that erring had to cut out because it was embedded in her ear. It might have caused injury that is why your doctor advised antibiotics. I would also advice antibiotics to avoid pus or abscess formation.
Hope it was helpful
